Bouchercon, the World Mystery Convention, is coming to Dallas for its 50th anniversary! Named for Anthony Boucher, the distinguished mystery fiction critic, editor, and author, Bouchercon is the world’s premier crime fiction event, bringing together all parts of the mystery community. Join Bouchercon this Saturday, November 2nd, for panels, parties, and pure mystery fun!
Bouchercon is an annual international mystery convention sponsored by devoted mystery volunteers. The convention’s purpose is to host an event where readers, authors, critics, editors, reviewers, bloggers, booksellers, librarians, and publishers can gather in an informal, diverse, inclusive, and welcoming setting to celebrate the love of mystery. Bouchercon is for people who read an occasional mystery novel as well as for die-hard fanatics.
The convention provides venues for networking, mentoring, promotion of author work, development of aspiring authors, and education opportunities. Every year attendees reconnect with some fabulous reader friends, as well as make new ones. Whether you come alone or with someone else, by the end of the weekend you’ll have new friends and be more connected to the mystery family.
Bouchercon 2019 will welcome and honor a distinguished lineup of mystery writers in addition to Hunsicker, including Peter Lovesey, who will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award; Hank Phillippi Ryan, American Guest of Honor; James Patterson, Distinguished Contributor; Deborah Crombie, Local Guest of Honor; Felix Francis, International Guest of Honor; and McKenna Jordan, Fan Guest of Honor.
The convention will raise money through silent and live auctions to support Literacy Instruction for Texas (LIFT). LIFT is the only adult literacy provider in the Metroplex serving very low-literate adults. Beginning with basic phonics, LIFT programs are designed to address the needs of many different kinds of learners.
