In rural areas of India, Diwali/Govardhana Puja which occurs at the end of a growing season is a harvest festival. Farmers celebrated with joy and gratitude for having a good crop. Diwali also symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, goodness over evil.

Kalachandji's will be celebrating this festival Sunday October, 30th. The centerpiece of the festival is a lavishly decorated fifteen-foot cake. The temple will be illuminated by thousands of candles for Diwali. It is a stunning sight that only happens once a year. Afterwards a multi-course free vegetarian feast will be served.
